Video: Queenstown's skateboarding bulldog

Heads turn when Hank takes to the street on his skateboard.

And no wonder - Hank is a 3-year-old bulldog who became obsessed with the board after being adopted a couple of years ago by Queenstown couple Glen Powell and Harriet Latchem.

''As soon as he saw the skateboard, he was obsessed,'' Ms Latchem said.

His usual style is to put two or three legs on the board and use the others to gather speed.

Standing next to the board, he is able to flick it so it changes direction, but sometimes a wall or workshop door get in Hank's way.

His first skateboard was one he purloined from Mr Powell, but his present board was given to him by a local skate shop, impressed by his abilities.

Sometimes Hank's activities tired him out too much, so the skateboard had to be hidden, Ms Latchem said.

A quick internet search revealed bulldogs and skateboards make a perfect combination because of the breed's low centre of gravity.
