Booze likely factor in Arrowtown crash

Police believe alcohol was a factor in an Arrowtown crash this morning.

Sergeant Mark Gill told the Otago Daily Times police attended a one-vehicle crash at 12.20am at the junction of Buckingham and Bedford Sts.

“The driver was a 23-year-old local male. [He] lost control on a corner and impacted with a large tree.”

The road was closed for an hour while emergency services were at the scene.

The driver and two occupants were taken to Lakes District Hospital with minor injuries. The driver provided a blood sample.

Sgt Gill said drink-driving charges were “likely”.
