Crown Range dangerous driving charge

A man who drove on the wrong side of the road while crossing the Crown Range, heading towards Queenstown, and failed to give way at a number of roundabouts is facing a charge of dangerous driving.

The 27-year-old, a visitor to the resort, was arrested about 9pm on Sunday after a complaint to police from another motorist.

Sergeant Steve Watt, of Queenstown, said the man allegedly crossed the centreline on the windy alpine road on ''multiple occasions'' forcing on-coming traffic to stop on the road to avoid a crash.

He also allegedly caused ''multiple accidents'' at roundabouts when he failed to give way.

"The driver stated he was having problems with the size of the vehicle,'' Sgt Watt said.

The man was due to appear in court.
