Subject to council sign-off, central Queenstown’s first hot pools’ complex is due to open this coming Monday.

Surrounding two sides of the Queenstown Mini Golf site, ‘Bathe by Aluume’ — comprising a corner communal pool and five private pools, each with changing facilities — is hidden by a corten steel serpentine wall.

Developed by Australian engineer/entrepreneur Tim McMahon, the pools, on the corner of Brecon St and Cemetery Rd, are an urban oasis, says GM Jay Errington, who’s employing six staff.

"I think this is going to give that antithesis to the hustle and bustle of Queenstown, it’s just a place where you can just cool off."

Or ‘cool off’ at a temperature of about 38-39°C.

Errington says they’ll operate 8am till 10pm daily for hourly soaks, with the communal pool priced at $55 per person and the private pools at $95 a head or $155 for two.

He notes a feature is the glass and non-glass canopies for enjoying the overhead views.

As part of the development, another five pools are also in the ground for a second-stage opening possibly in the second quarter of next year.
