New managers appointed

Two managers have been appointed to run community facilities in Wanaka formerly run by one.

Lakes Leisure has appointed Averil Napier to manage the Wanaka Community Pool facility on Plantation Rd, and Charlotte Inglis has taken over as manager of the Lake Wanaka Centre and other council assets, such as sports fields and reserves.

Lakes Leisure chief executive Fiona McKissock, of Queenstown, said a decision was made to reintroduce the separate management roles, after the "surprise" resignation of former Wanaka community facilities manager Cam Sheppard.

Mr Sheppard, who had overall responsibility for the two Lakes Leisure-operated community facilities in Wanaka, said he had resigned to pursue other interests and was "looking for a job".

He was appointed to manage the council's two main community assets in Wanaka less than three months ago.

Prior to Mr Sheppard's appointment, the two roles had been separate positions.
