Queenstown on high

Destination Queenstown has entered a joint venture with a Bollywood film company to shoot high-definition footage of the resort from the air.

The regional tourism organisation is collaborating with Mumbai-based Dharma Productions, which has filmed scenes around the Wakatipu for its feature film I Hate Luv Stories.

Destination Queenstown marketing general manager Graham Budd said Dharma would film establishing footage of Queenstown for possible use in the film, with the support of Destination Queenstown, Film Otago Southland and the Queenstown film industry.

"The win-win for us all is we will have access to the raw footage, so it allows us to have it at a much cheaper rate than if we did it ourselves . . .

"We can use [it] for any promotion."

Mr Budd said Destination Queenstown regularly received requests for aerial footage of Queenstown from broadcasters around the world.

The venture would update the existing available stock and show the resort in sharper images.
