Series shoot under way in resort

Filming has started in Queenstown for the $7 million crime drama One Lane Bridge, being produced by Great Southern Television for screening by TVNZ, Australia's Seven Network and, likely, international broadcasters.

The six-part series will involve about 200 cast and crew, who will be on set in the resort until the end of the year.

It stars Dominic Ona-Ariki as a Cook Island Maori detective who can see dead people. Following a murder investigation at Queenstown's One Lane Bridge, the detective's spiritual gift is reawakened, endangering the case, his career and life.

Other actors include Sara Wiseman (A Place to Call Home), Peter McCauley, Ryan O'Kane (Shortland Street) and Dean O'Gorman, Jared Turner, Michelle Langstone and Alison Bruce, all four of whom previously worked on The Almighty Johnsons.
