Seasoned long-distance traveller Naresh Kumar is enlisting extra leg power on a fundraising ride the length of the country.

Mr Kumar spent the weekend in Queenstown while six weeks into his ride to raise awareness, and money, for charity Tearfund's work to combat human trafficking.

He has ridden with 124 passengers so far - ranging from 3 years old to 72 - and raised $14,000 of his $20,000 target.

In 2014, the Indian-born New Zealander ran the length of the country in sandals, and since then has cycled and run through 14 countries in four continents, raising money for the same cause.

He intends to stop in Dunedin on his way to Bluff.
