The Courier is catching up with pupil leaders in secondary schools throughout South Canterbury. In this instalment by reporter Connor Haley, we have the school leaders from Roncalli College. The remaining secondary schools’ pupil leaders will be highlighted over the next few weeks’ editions.

Kia ora, my name is Neave Bruin and I am honoured to be a head student of Roncalli College for 2024.

I am excited to serve the school community that has supported me throughout the last four years and to form even more connections with students and staff.

As a leader, I hope to increase the sense of culture within our school while also encouraging others around me to step out of their comfort zone.

Outside of school, I love dance and performing arts and competing at various dance competitions.

I also enjoy travelling and spending time with friends and family.

Working alongside the rest of the Roncalli student leadership team this year will be a great opportunity to continue to nurture the supportive, whānau-focused environment of our college.

Kia ora, my name is Carter West and I have the great pleasure of being a head student at Roncalli College for 2024.

I aim to serve the students, staff and community at Roncalli, to inspire them to be the best version of the person God created them to be, and to have the courage to pursue excellence in their lives.

I’m incredibly grateful for the support I have received from staff and my peers.

I can’t wait for the challenge of the year to come, as I have large goals in my football and education careers that I’m excited to strive towards alongside my role in 2024.
