Alleged threat to kill with firearm

Police are investigating an incident in which a man allegedly pulled a gun and threatened to kill the occupant of a house in Clinton.

Senior Constable Robin Hutton, of Balclutha, said two vehicles pulled up at house in Manse St, Clinton, about 12.30am on Wednesday last week.

A group of people from one of the vehicles approached the occupants of the house.

Snr Const Hutton said an altercation ensued and a firearm was allegedly brought out.

Threatening behaviour was displayed and the group of people left the scene shortly after the weapon was revealed.

Those involved were found by police soon after.

A 43-year-old male from Clinton was charged with presenting a firearm and threatening to kill in relation to the incident.

He was due to appear in court on Friday this week.

Snr Const Hutton said no-one was hurt in the incident, but the occupants of the house were left extremely shaken.

Police had spoken to several witnesses and inquiries were continuing.

More people still needed to be spoken to about the incident.

Snr Const Hutton declined to comment on the motive behind the alleged threatening behaviour.
