Waihola residents can expect big changes at their local fuel station over the next few months as Waihola Motors is transformed.

Co-owner Lindsay Anderton said he and his wife owned 0.2ha of land on Main South Rd in Waihola and the current service station occupied only half the site.

It would be demolished and a new building would occupy the whole property, Mr Anderton said.

''It's going to be a completely new site.''

The owners had decided to make a change

when they switched from Challenge Fuel to a Nelson supplier, Mr Anderton said.

''If it hadn't been for Nelson Petroleum Distributors, I doubt it would have got off the ground.''

Mr Anderton said the current station was too small and there was often a build-up of traffic.

The new design would allow for a better traffic flow and less frustration.

Mr Anderton said they would use local contractors during the rebuild.
