The district’s children had a licence to leap last week, as Bounce Fest returned to the Cross Recreation Centre in Balclutha.

Parents shared a cuppa as kids let off steam, thanks to about a dozen adventure play inflatables in the centre’s main sports hall.

A Cross Recreation Centre staff member said the event had proved popular during last year’s September school holidays, leading to a repeat this Easter.

About 1300 children visited last year, and numbers remained buoyant during Thursday’s opening session last week.

The event ran until Monday this week, and was likely to be repeated in September once more this year, she said. She thanked Otago Community Trust for helping fund the event, and Dunedin inflatable provider Video Tech for its generous support.
