Two key roles in the South Otago community are under threat with the Clutha District Council's draft long-term council community plan recommending its total contribution for both be removed.
Ratepayer funding for the positions of Clutha community co-ordinator and South Otago Museum curator could disappear if the draft document is approved.
The community co-ordinator role was first formed three years ago to provide help for volunteers, organisations and support for various projects.
Many of the projects achieved as part of the Balclutha revitalisation plan came from the early work of former co-ordinator Irene Mosley, who left the job at the end of the year.
A new part-time position was created at the start of this year with plans to expand the job after a review during 2009 but the council has now said it will not fund the position beyond December 2009.
Milton woman Megan Burke is employed in the part-time until the end of the year.
Another role in the firing line is that of museum curator Gary Ross.
The council had previously agreed to pay nearly $19,000 to the South Otago Historical Society for his wages but that agreement finishes at the end of June.
