Concern for missing teen

Police and family are concerned about the whereabouts of a Balclutha teenager missing since Tuesday.

Hannah Jade King (15) was last seen leaving her Benhar home walking towards Dunedin about 2pm with the intention of hitchhiking there.

Senior Constable Tanya Grant said Hannah's mother contacted police after becoming worried about the lack of contact.

Friends of the teenager have not seen her in Dunedin and she has not logged in to her Facebook account for several days.

Hannah is described as Caucasian, 160cm-165cm tall, of medium build with straight, dark-brown shoulder-length hair and brown eyes.

When she left home she was wearing black tights, red shorts and a black puffer jacket. She was also carrying a black school backpack.

Police are appealing for anyone with information about Hannah to phone Balclutha police on (03) 418-0203 or Dunedin police on (03) 471-4800.
