Mrs Basquin said she was pleased to receive the acknowledgement for her 20 years as president, which came as a "nice surprise".
"I appreciate the nomination, as you simply do these things to help out the community in which you live. It’s a great community with lots going on."
She said she had only learnt the joys of a roast lamb leg since arriving in New Zealand from the United States 30 years ago.
"You don’t really get roast lamb there, so a local friend introduced me to it, and I’ve never looked back."
She had not had a roast for some time, she said, and looked forward to sharing this one with friends.
