Ms Miller’s idea to prepare a Christmas Day family feast for lonely, recently arrived or just plain hungry Clutha people has inspired a team of local elves to join her at the Owaka Community Centre before the 25th, and on the big day itself.
"I know some families are doing it hard and the modern sort of expectations for Christmas don’t make that any easier," the community support worker said.
"But I think just a bit of old fashioned teamwork and togetherness can cook up a gift of Christmas spirit for people to treasure all year."
Silver Fern Farms and Clutha Leader are proud to support that spirit by adding fresh local lamb to the menu, and our best wishes to the Owaka Christmas feast.
