The $2.7 million project, which started in June last year, will officially be opened on April 11, and work is to be completed by March 31.
The New Zealand Transport Agency contributed $1.6 million of the total cost, while the Clutha District Council paid the remainder.
The total project cost is expected to come in under budget at about $2.2 million.
Nugget Point Lighthouse and the Nuggets was one of the most popular destinations in the Clutha district, and believed to attract more than 60,000 visitors per year.
NZTA regional relationship director Jim Harland said it was an important project.

The sealing project complemented the $600,000 construction of a car park, toilet facilities and viewing platforms at the end of Nuggets Rd, near Nugget Point, by the Department of Conservation, he said.
The Nuggets Rd project was completed in two stages and involved sealing the car park at the end of the road, culvert work, tree cutting and rock stabilisation.
The second stage included widening parts of the road, installing guard rails and applying a chip seal.
Clutha District Council service delivery group manager Jules Witt said it was great to have the project nearly completed.
``We are pleased about the improved safety and smoother driving experience this project will bring to a key destination in the Catlins area for both locals and visitors alike.''
