Police, investigating a stabbing incident at Stirling on Thursday night, believe a woman's wounds were self-inflicted.
Detective Constable Craig Dinnissen said police in Balclutha were approached about 7pm Thursday by a 43-year-old Stirling man who reported a stabbing incident had happened at his house. At the same time, a 42-year-old woman presented herself at Clutha Health First, with minor puncture wounds to both thighs and a cut hand.
She was treated and discharged soon after and has spoken to police.
Extra police from Balclutha and Milton were called in to help with the investigation but Det Const Dinnissen said inquiries suggested the wounds were caused by the woman, who is now undergoing a psychological assessment.
The man is not expected to face charges.
Det Const Dinnissen said police were focusing on the background of both people and how they came to meet.
