Aged care facility Clutha Views Lifecare, of Balclutha, won the excellence award at the New Zealand Aged Care Association conference last week for training and staff development.
Heritage Lifecare clinical operations manager Pam Joll said the judges saw ''the heart in their team effort'' and their huge success with training staff.
At Clutha Views, 93% of care staff either had a certificate or were training.
Clutha Views Lifecare staff were proud to know they could provide quality care on a level similar to major cities, Ms Joll said.
A ceremony will be held on October 21 to present the award to staff.
