The Topp Twins, Lynda (left) and Jools, will perform in Balclutha early next month.
They stole the show six years ago, and in the spirit of the new Clutha District Week for Women's recycling theme, they are back again this year.

Jools and Lynda Topp, better known as the Topp Twins, will perform at the Balclutha War Memorial Hall on May 8 at the start of the new-look ‘‘week'' that actually runs for almost three weeks.

The 10th anniversary of the promotion previously known as Rural Women's Week has seen a shake-up and recycling introduced as the main theme this year.

Positively Clutha Women (PCW), which developed the concept, chose recycling as the 2008 theme.

Chairwoman Robyn Gardner said it was bringing back some of the speakers, workshops and performers it had hosted in the past, as well as introducing some new initiatives to the programme.

The Topp Twins performed as part of the 2002 Rural Women's Week programme and would be one of this year's ‘‘recycled acts'', Mrs Gardner said.

‘‘We felt they were an act worth bringing back. With Jools Topp fighting cancer last year, the twins have a message on how they have had to rethink their own lives and make changes to continue doing what they love, even through difficult times.''

The event will be run in association with the South Otago High School netball team, which is fundraising for a trip to Australia later this year.

Tickets for the Topp Twins concert go on sale on Monday.
