Wellness on the agenda

A combination of breast screening, brain development, living with cancer and even some lunchtime tai chi is on the agenda for next month's Clutha district community wellness programme.

At least nine separate events have been arranged during June, as organisers continue to be impressed with the community's response to the variety on offer.

Two separate events, one dealing with living with arthritis and the other living with cancer, are expected to be popular.

The arthritis seminar will be held on June 17, while the cancer programme will be held in Balclutha for the first time on June 10 and 11.

The Brainwaves Trust, which teaches parents how to get the most out of their children, will hold two sessions - on June 12 and 13.

Farmsafe will examine the top five causes of farm injuries when it hosts a session on safety awareness at Tapanui on June 13, while a Safe with Age driving course for senior motorists will be staged in Milton on June 17.

The Sport Clutha winter walking series continue with a hill walk around the Catlins settlement of Hina Hina on June 22, while another recreational pursuit - tai chi - will be offered during a lunchtime session on June 10.

Other events include a free two-hour basic car safety workshop and gluten-free cooking class.

Anyone wanting more information or to book any of June's programmes should contact the Clutha Information Centre on (03) 418-0388.
