A 24-year-old French woman was taken to Dunedin Hospital with neck injuries after a head-on crash near Owaka on Sunday afternoon.

Constable Logan Dickie, of Balclutha, said emergency services were called to a head-on crash on Purakaunui Falls Rd, about 10km south of Owaka, about 2.45pm.

He said a Nissan Sunny rental car, driven by 22-year-old French woman was in collision with a Nissan Navara.

The woman received minor injuries and her 24-year-old female passenger was taken to Dunedin Hospital with neck injuries. The 32-year-old man driving the Nissan Navara and his three passengers also received minor injuries.
