A woman injured at Te Anau early on Monday morning was recovering after a ''traumatic incident'', Detective Sergeant John Kean, of Invercargill, said yesterday. The woman received a cut to her arm and was seen by a GP, he said.
''Physically, she is doing OK, but mentally she has been through a traumatic incident,'' he said.
He would not say what the traumatic incident was.
The incident between the woman and a man known to her is believed to have occurred about 4am in a block of flats on Quintin Dr.
The woman sought help at a nearby motel.
No arrests had been made and it was too soon to say whether any charges would be laid, Det Sgt Kean said. Earlier this week police appealed for witnesses.
Det Sgt Kean said there had been a good response, with police receiving some ''useful information''
