Police are investigating an armed robbery which yesterday left a shop assistant shaken but unhurt.
Acting Detective Senior Sergeant Mike Bowman said two people entered the Elles Rd Night'n Day brandishing a firearm, about 1.40am yesterday.
The pair demanded a large quantity of cigarettes and tobacco before leaving the store, heading east, towards Maitland St, on foot, he said.
They were described as male, about 170cm tall, of medium build. Both were wearing dark coloured clothing. One wore a distinctive white face mask and the other a cloth of some sort to hide his face.
The shop assistant was left shaken, but unhurt, Acting Det Snr Sgt Bowman said.
Police were also investigating two burglaries at Wetlands Liquor of Otatara.
Acting Det Snr Sgt Bowman said the first burglary was early on Sunday. Up to three offenders were believed to have thrown an item through a shop window to gain access to obtain alcohol.
The second burglary occurred about 1am yesterday, when up to three offenders smashed a window and took a large quantity of alcohol.
Police were keeping an open mind as to whether the three incidents were linked and were interested in sightings of any person or vehicles acting suspiciously in the area of both businesses.
Anyone with information about these incidents was asked to contact their nearest police station, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555-111.
