Judges for the Gore District Community Awards will have their work cut out deciding on winners, organisers say.
The awards, which honour the efforts and achievements of Gore residents, attracted 43 entries across all eight categories.
Awards co-ordinator Susan Jones said that number was an excellent result and the 16 received for the junior sportsperson category alone confirmed the depth of sporting talent and achievement in the district.
A gala dinner and awards function will be held in Gore on November 1, including guest speaker and 2004 Olympic gold medallist Sarah Ulmer.
Tickets go on sale at the end of this week from the Gore Visitor Information Centre.
