Black Fern Amy du Plessis shows the World Cup Trophy, nicknamed "Nancy", to siblings (from left) Laykn (9), Kye (5) and Mahli (7) Ah Kuoi, of Invercargill, at a meet-and-greet at the ILT Stadium Southland yesterday.

Du Plessis, alongside Black Ferns teammates Amy Rule and Kendra Cocksedge, spent the day in Southland visiting fans young and old at Aparima College, Riverton Rugby Club, Hauroko Valley Primary School and Southland Girls’ High School.

Du Plessis and Rule first started playing in Southland before heading north to chase higher honours.

They felt fortunate to be able to bring Nancy down to celebrate with the fans before the Super Rugby Aupiki games which would begin this weekend, Rule said.

"It’s about being out there and showing young girls the opportunities that are there for them, and showing Southlanders that it is possible ... and basically, go for your dream."
