A Bonny song

Busker Kasey Bonn (12), of Queenstown, sings as family members (from left) grandmother Norma McKay, of Te Anau, her father, Mike Bonn, brother Mason Bonn (10), great-uncle and great-aunt Bruce and Elizabeth Bennett of Gore grandfather Morris McKay, of Te Anau, and mother Cindy Bonn listen yesterday as part of the Gold Guitar Awards in Gore.

Competitors were encouraged to "freeze ya' bits off busking'' on the chilly streets.

It is Kasey's first time at the Gold Guitar Awards, encouraged by her music teacher. She has entered three categories, including junior vocal solo and junior country rock.

Kasey has been playing guitar for about three years.

She said the busking was "really fun'' and the money she earned was a bonus.

The Gold Guitar Awards are an annual event to celebrate country music in New Zealand.

The finals will be held tonight and tomorrow.
