
In a ceremony in Dunedin's municipal chambers, the groups were each handed a cheque which will go towards the administration of their organisation, United Way chief executive Don Oliver said.
United Way is an independent, non-religious, non-political, volunteer-based organisation which works with business and individuals to raise money for welfare organisations.
It has been funding charities in Otago for seven years.
This year's recipients were: Alzheimers Society Otago, Carers Society Otago, Catholic Social Services, Corpac Trust, DARE Otago, Disability Information Service, Dunedin Citizens Advice Bureau, Enterprise Clutha Trust, ESOL Home Tutors, Habitat For Humanity, Happiness House Trust, Heartland Otago/Southland Life Education Trust, Meiss, Mosgiel Memorial RSA, Northeast Valley Baptist Church, Otago Multiple Sclerosis Society, Parkinson Society of Otago, Queenstown Lakes Family Centre, Rape Crisis, SPELD Dunedin, Stopping Violence Dunedin, Wakatipu Abuse Prevention Network, Youthline Otago.
