A fundraiser for the Australian fires has raised more than $45,000.
The man behind the fundraiser, Wanaka actor Jay Simon, said a concert and collections in restaurants, bars and shops around Wanaka over the past month had raised a total of $46,601.76.
He said it was heartbreaking to see the fire emergency continuing but ‘‘our job is done’’.
‘‘We were the first in the country to do it, and I am very proud of how much we raised.’’
