Wanaka Stakeholders Group chairman Michael Ross announced on Thursday the group would apply to the High Court this week for a judicial review of the Queenstown District Council's (QLDC) 100-year lease last year of the airport to the Queenstown Airport Corporation (QAC).
In a statement yesterday, Ms Legnavsky called for "calm" while the QLDC undertook independent social and economic impact assessments, and a spatial plan for the district was prepared.
"This information will also help shape the draft master plan for Wanaka Airport, at which point our community will be able to have a robust discussion with QAC through the next round of community engagement.
Ms Legnavsky said the "negative sentiment in the community and the combative nature of opposition is deeply concerning.
"The conflict that's going on in the community at the moment is disturbing."
Stakeholders group chairman Michael Ross responded that the chamber was "severely misreading" the tone of community reaction.
"We have nearly 3000 members ... who have been calmly asking for more information and transparency from council for months.
"This is not a conflict as the chamber claims; it's a cry from the community for inclusivity, transparency and involvement."
