Dragons, unicorns and mischievous goblins will share the stage with Santa and his elves in Lake Hāwea this Christmas.

A Christmas Wonderland is once again set to bring holiday joy to the Hāwea community.

The event, to be held at the Hāwea Community Centre in Myra St, invites people to step into a world where a child’s dreams come to life.

From December 3 to 14, this year’s Hāwea Christmas Wonderland display is tipped to be the biggest yet.

Head elves Barbara Mackenzie and Elizabeth Horrell are telling those planning to attend to expect the unexpected as dragons, unicorns and mischievous goblins will share the stage with Santa, elves and twinkling Christmas trees.

"It’s also about bringing people together — we love seeing families, neighbours and friends connect through the wonder of it all," Ms Mackenzie said.

The Hāwea Christmas Wonderland has grown into a celebration of creativity, community and Christmas spirit.

All proceeds from the event are to support the Lake Hāwea Community Centre, to help maintain the venue, support local activities and ensure the centre remains a vibrant hub for community life.

The Hāwea Christmas Wonderland gives thanks to the Hāwea Men’s Shed, which "played a large role in bringing the Wonderland to life, giving countless volunteer hours".

Santa’s special appearances on the weekends will offer photo opportunities and the Christmas raffle will return, prizes for which have been given by local businesses.

Entry for children 5 and older is $2.50, for adults $10.00 and for a family $20. Children 5 and younger are free.

Tickets can be bought online or at the door.
