Two world-class chefs will be collaborating for one night in Wanaka to raise money for a local youth trust early next month.

Wanaka organic chef Lucas Parkinson will be cooking alongside internationally acclaimed three-hatted Auckland chef Michael Meredith at ODE restaurant at the first Dine by Donation event in Wanaka.

Dine by Donation was the brainchild of Mr Meredith and has supported many New Zealand charities over the years.

Food is donated by suppliers with the entire proceeds from all food served in the restaurant for the evening going to charity.

Mr Parkinson said when he heard Mr Meredith was closing his Auckland restaurant in December to spend more time with his family he ''instagrammed him'' about whether he could run a Dine by Donation event in Wanaka and if would like to be involved.

''Michael Meredith is one of the most awarded chefs over the past decade and one of most respected chefs for evolving New Zealand cuisine, and the dinner will be an amazing collaboration of our two different ways of cooking,'' Mr Parkinson said.

The Dine by Donation three-course meal will take place at two sittings, 6pm and 8.30pm, on Wednesday, April 4. All proceeds will be donated to local youth organisation Kahu Youth Trust.

Mr Parkinson said he hoped to hold more Dine by Donation events and invite a different guest collaborative chef to each one, with the money raised going to different youth trusts and charities each time.
