A Queenstown Lakes District Council spokesman said the works will take place from 8pm this Sunday until 6am Monday morning.
"The work will involve removal/reinstatement of a damaged angle iron section, and some compressed and cracked concrete beneath it.
"A diversion will be in place via Riverbank Rd (to/from Mount Iron Junction), State Highway 6, Morris Rd and Ballantyne Rd east of the bridge," he said.
Ahead of the works council has installed crossing ramps and introduced a temporary 30 km/h speed limit to protect the damaged surface from further deterioration.
