Cinema Paradiso operator Calum MacLeod said the new 30-seat boutique cinema would show mostly independent and arthouse films and cater to the growing number of visitors to the town.
The small classic movie theatre in Brownston St has been described on websites as a ''real find''. One cinema has old sofas and three seats in an old Morris Minor car instead of traditional seating.
Mr MacLeod would not be drawn on whether the new cinema would have a theme, except to say ''it will be quirky''.
