The Unicorn Cruise Boat heads to the finish line of the cardboard boat race on Lake Wanaka on Saturday.
Three of the crew, aged 9 and 10, made the craft with "no adult help".
The crew consisted of (from bow to stern) Imogen Nisbet (10), Kate Hutchison (9) and Alex Kettle (10) with Dorothy Anderson (10) in the orange and yellow jacket and Mikayla Botting (10) in the black and pink jacket, providing extra propulsion.
The girls were last year’s winners of the Titanic Award.
The boat race is a popular annual fixture organised by Kahu Youth and this year attracted dozens of entries and a crowd of several hundred.
