The spidey-senses of Hokitika photographer Kirsty Wilson gave her the winning edge at the Photographic Society of New Zealand’s 2026 National Exhibition of Photography, which was held recently in Rotorua.

Her close-up shot of a two-striped jumper spider, Telamonia dimidiate, which is most commonly found in various Asian tropical rainforests, won the Ron Willems Medallion for the most successful photographer in digital images (nature and open).

Mrs Wilson has been a member of the Greymouth Photography Club since 2020 and is one of several club members successfully competing in international exhibitions.

‘‘I’m incredibly honoured to receive the Ron Willems Medallion,’’ she said of her latest success.
