A Southland man is facing charges under the Resource Management Act after an investigation into an odour complaint at a property near Mataura.

An Environment Southland spokesperson said the man was scheduled to appear in the Invercargill District Court next Wednesday on seven charges relating to operations at the property, on Frazer Rd, Tuturau, between August 1 and September 26.

Six relate to discharges of blood, leachate and or contaminates to land in circumstances where they could enter water, while the seventh charge relates to failure to comply with abatement notices issued in August and September.

The spokesperson said that as the matter was now before the courts, no further comment could be made.
