Three fire trucks with sirens blaring and lights flashing turned up at Aurora College, but principal Craig Taylor said everything was fine.
"[The] fire department was called out as a precaution regarding something involving the redevelopment building work that is taking place.’’
A Fire and Emergency New Zealand (Fenz) spokesperson said the service was alerted to a small chemical spill at a building undergoing demolition about 11.30am on Thursday.
Trucks from the Kingswell and Invercargill stations responded and cleared up the spill. All crews had departed about an hour later.
Mr Taylor said there was no risk to students, who are due to return to school next week.
