'Moderate' quake felt near Te Anau

A “moderate” 5.1-magnitude earthquake has shaken parts of the South near Te Anau this morning.

The quake, which was centred about 50km northwest of the town, happened at 6.55am, at a depth of 23km, according to GeoNet.

More than 200 people reported feeling the quake, GeoNet's website shows.
