Southland mixologist Stefani has been named as the second runner-up in the national Monin NZ Cocktail Cup.
Ms Stefani, who works at The Langlands hotel’s rooftop bar 360, alongside former The Langlands colleague Niamh Haszard, now from Te Anau’s Fat Duck, made their mark in the nation’s top six mixologists after competing in the national final on Monday alongside some of the country’s leading bartenders.
The competition aimed to give young bartenders the opportunity to challenge themselves in a professional competition with their "timeless twists" entries — a drink based on a classic gin sour.
Ms Haszard said while she did not place in the competition she enjoyed the camaraderie of being able to compete against her former colleague as well as cheer her on.
"It was pretty exciting because then you can root for the other person and they root for you, so it was really exciting doing it with Stefani and having someone you could stick with."
Fat Duck owner Selina Wright said Niamh gained a lot of experience at the competition.
"She had a great time, she learnt a lot and we’re super proud of her."
The Langlands executive manager Alannah Tamariki said the team was "incredibly proud" of Ms Stefani’s achievements.
"She brings creativity, passion and genuine warmth.
"To see her recognised nationally is fantastic."
ILT chief executive Chris Ramsay said the result reflected strong talent within the organisation.

"We’re proud to support Stefani as she builds her career here in Invercargill."
Competitors in the international Monin Cup are challenged to create cocktails that deliver not just flavour, but a full sensory experience.
Ms Stefani’s entry used Monin Creme Brulee infused with miso.
"It sounds rich, but I’ve designed it to be light and refreshing," she said.
"I enjoy surprising people while keeping flavours balanced."
Originally from Indonesia, Ms Stefani studied hotel management at the Southern Institute of Technology before settling in Invercargill.
"People here are so friendly, and there are great opportunities.
"I also love working with local distilleries like Bluff Gin, Auld Farm and Third Island," she said.
After being placed as a finalist in 2025, she said the experience had sharpened her skills.
"I’m looking forward to connecting with others, being inspired and bringing fresh ideas back to 360."
