Year ends with exhibition

Celebrating the end of the Waverley Park School year with an art exhibition last Thursday was a highlight for event organiser and assistant principal Brenda Devery, principal Kerry Hawkins and student Flynn Anquetil, 5.

The new entrant is pointing to his handiwork which depicts a day out at Milford Sound with billowing clouds and a bird soaring in the blue sky.

The painting was one of hundreds of pieces which the school pupils had worked on throughout the year and were displayed in the school auditorium.

Ms Devery said the art exhibition was a good way to get the tamariki to explore their creative sides.

"Ending the year with an art exhibition was a nice, relaxing way for the children to express their creativity and to show their parents how they had progressed over the year," Ms Devery said.
