
The event, held at the end of the season, was a chance for Southland Football to give credit where it was due, in acknowledging standout players, teams, referees, coaches and volunteers throughout the region.
Southland Football development and operations manager Iain Walker said, in a statement, the awards were a chance to come together and celebrate the growth and excellent of play and standards, both on and off the field.
"It really is great to see not only the numbers in football growing, but the standard of play is really elevating as well.
"We’ve got some very talented people involved in the sport and it’s great to be able to recognise that."
The Gore Wanderers especially had a night of continued excellence, celebrating a remarkable season for the team.
Amiera Kortbaoui, of Gore Wanderers, was the Women’s Youth Player of the Year, also picking up the "Golden Boot’’ award for her massive 16 goals scored this season.
Morgan Greene of the Gore Wanderers also won the Women’s Coach of the Year award, and the club picked up the preseason trophy as well as the Kolk Cup, with plenty to celebrate after an excellent season for the team.
