A new online engagement platform will make it easier than ever for the community to talk to Gore District Council.
The brand new platform for Let’s Talk Kōrero Mai started this week on Social Pinpoint, an engagement portal already used around the country.
Gore will join the Clutha District, Christchurch and Nelson in using Social Pinpoint. Chief executive Debbie Lascelles was confident in the new look.
"We want to hear from as many people as possible, including those who don’t usually get involved.
"Social Pinpoint gives people more choice, more flexibility, and more chances to have their voice heard."
The new platform has real-time dashboards and uses AI to pick out key themes.
It will help the council show how public input influences decisions, and quickly share "what we heard" reports.
In a statement, Ms Lascelles said it was a really important tool for transparency.
"People should be able to see not only that they’ve been heard, but also how their feedback is shaping decisions."
Other benefits cited are the easier ways to communicate, to follow projects, the savings it will bring the council, and increased engagement opportunities.
