Yesterday runners started the year 7 race at Watson Park during the Dunedin primary and intermediate schools triathlon at Port Chalmers.The triathlon attracted 405 pupils from 25 schools for individual and team races. Macandrew Bay's Dan O'Brein won the year 5 boys, while Melanie Button of Sawyer's Bay School won the girls race. In the year 6 grade Jackson Hughan, of Fairfield School was the boys' winner and East Taieri's Rosie Falcous was the girls'.

Harry Summers, of John McGlashan College, won the year 7 boys race, while DNI's Taya Kain won the girls event. Tessa Milton gave Fairfield another win in the girls' year 8 race, while Matheson Colquhoun of Balmacewen Intermediate claimed the year 8 boys title.
