The event, organised by the Hill City-University club, has been a staple on the calendar for middle and long-distance runners tackling the 1500m distance.
The senior men’s and senior women’s races are the premier event as always and feature five teams in each race at the University Oval.
Three Leith teams and two HCU sides will battle for the men’s title.
‘‘It’s going to be a battle between those two again. Leith has put forward a very, very strong side,’’ HCU president Mark Geddes said.
Three Leith teams, one Caversham team and one HCU team will line up in the senior women’s event.
Five teams have also entered the halls of residence event, a race introduced a couple of years ago to attract more students
Among those are previous winners Studholme and Salmond, while Hayward will make their debut and a local crew of Dunedin-based students will also line up.
The relays start with a new under-8s fun run and the event also has under-12, under-14, under-16 and under-18 mixed races, a social/mixed race and masters men’s and women’s races.
‘‘We just want to stress that this is always a race for everyone.
‘‘We’re just trying to cater to everyone so you’ve literally got the over-60s and the under-8s.
We’re still considering it an event for all, competitive and non-competitive.’’
