It wasn't to be for Steven Adams.

Stephen Curry hit a dagger in the closing stages to help the Golden State Warriors claim a 96-88 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 7 of the NBA's Western Conference Finals in Oakland today.

Things started well for the Thunder and Adams was productive around the hoop. He would finish with nine points and nine rebounds, including a monster reverse dunk early on, but went quiet towards the end as the Warriors began to take over.

The Warriors will advance to the Finals, where they will meet LeBron James' Cleveland Cavaliers in a rematch of last year's Finals, on the back of an outstanding second half shooting performance from Curry and Klay Thompson.

Curry went 7 of 12 from beyond the three-point line, while Thompson hit 6 of 11 as they combined for 57 points to carry their team through.

But Curry showed he is more than just a shooter, getting to the hoop and showing his superb touch and float-game to beat the help to finish.

The Thunder shot out to a 48-43 lead at halftime, with the starters all chipping in while containing the lethal Warriors to their lowest first-half total of the playoffs.

The Warriors fought back though and despite the Thunder's best efforts on defence, four quick three-pointers in the third quarter ate into the deficit and saw the Warriors take the lead.

Trailing by 11, the Thunder rallied late, but the Warriors were able to hold on, winning three straight to take a 4-3 series win.
