It was Fairfield's day. They won the Outram 2000 fours tournament from the 46-strong field yesterday.
The team of Barbara Walker, Paul Newall, Kris Newall and Reece Aiken won the 23rd annual event at Outram yesterday with 200 points and collected the $2000 winner's purse.
The team was unbeaten and had seven wins and one draw in its eight games. It was its fifth year at the tournament and its previous best performance was third.
The Composite team of Kim Gawn, Andrew Gawn, Steve Wilson and Peter Wilson was runner-up with 190 points and collected $400.
It is the largest open bowls tournament run by a club in Otago each year.
