Taieri’s terrific twosome claimed the major honours at the Bowls Dunedin awards at the Edgar Centre last night.
Blair Barringer was named male player of the year, and Linley O’Callaghan was named female player of the year.
It was a third triumph in the category at the annual awards for former Blackjacks squad member Barringer.
He won the Dunedin open singles title and also claimed the champion of champions singles title, earning him a spot at the New Zealand champion of champions finals in Auckland in July.
Barringer combined with O’Callaghan to win the Dunedin open mixed pairs.
He is now 12th on the all-time Dunedin list after adding a second bar to his gold star for 15 centre titles.
O’Callaghan was named female bowler of the year for the first time.
As well as banking the open mixed pairs title, she was the open triples champion and runner-up in both the pairs and fours.
O’Callaghan achieved her Dunedin gold star after spending most of her career in Central Otago, where she won 44 titles.
She was a member of the champion Taieri interclub sevens team that went on to place third at the national finals.
The other Taieri winner at the Bowls Dunedin awards was Jan Hall, who was named coach of the year.
Stadium Bowls representatives Shannon Eathorne (most improved senior) and Tina Forrester (development) claimed the other major female awards.
Rising Kaikorai star Jacob Potiki-Tagg, who won the Kittyhawk New Zealand under-21 title last month, was named male development player of the year, and Sonya Woodrow (Forbury Park) was named open disability player of the year.
Dot Mowat (Fairfield) was recognised as the best umpire, and Gary Thornley (Fairfield) claimed the greenkeeper award.
Mary Coupland (St Clair) was named club person of the year, and Stadium Bowls was named best club.
