Cricket: England confirm unchanged side for first test

England captain Michael Vaughan has confirmed an unchanged playing 11 for today's first cricket test against New Zealand at Lord's, with paceman Matthew Hoggard missing the cut.

Vaughan said England would field the same team who beat New Zealand by 121 runs in the series-clinching third test in Napier in March.

"We have to build on what we developed at Napier. That was a decent performance, hopefully we can play a little bit better and be a bit more explosive when we bat," Vaughan said.

"It's the same team that played in Napier, hopefully a similar performance and a similar result."

The only minor change would be a batting reshuffle, with Vaughan confirming he would drop to No 3 and Andrew Strauss move up to partner Alastair Cook at the top of the order.

England: Michael Vaughan (captain), Alastair Cook, Andrew Strauss, Kevin Pietersen, Ian Bell, Paul Collingwood, Tim Ambrose, Stuart Broad, Ryan Sidebottom, James Anderson, Monty Panesar.
