Central Districts and New Zealand batsman Jamie How has been fined $200 after hitting his stumps in frustration during their State Shield one-day cricket match against Otago in New Plymouth on Wednesday.

The incident followed How's dismissal, bowled by Neil Wagner from the first ball he faced at Pukekura Park.

It was the third golden duck of the season for How, who was not selected on Thursday in the New Zealand team to tour Australia from next week.

Umpires Barry Frost and Phil Jones filed a report on the incident , which was reported as a breach of the New Zealand Cricket code of conduct, relating to unacceptable behaviour.

Association commissioner Roger Mori convened a hearing on the alleged breach and deemed that while the incident was unacceptable behaviour for a professional cricketer, he accepted that How's action was a momentary lapse, and not a display of dissent.

Mori viewed the incident as not serious and at the lower end of the scale.
